Class Schedules
SouthPaw Training's Basic Obedience classes are the most comprehensive available. Our basic class is like no other program. We give you Behavior Modification and Obedience as a package, along with a SouthPaw Training Book to backup everything you learn in each class.
Our program is designed to give the pet owner what they needs most - the enjoyment of having a good social pet with manners. SouthPaw Training's 6-week program. gives you the help to learn how to guide your pet through the puppy stage and gives you the knowledge to control the behavior problems.
SouthPaw Training trainer, Barbara Day is certified in 9 levels of canine training and behavior. We have taken the time and learned the correct methods, to train you and your dog. We have not just taken a few classes and trained a dog or two. Being a good trainer is not about how many titles you have, or how many dogs you own. It is about the knowledge that 35 years owning, training, showing, and studying dogs, can give you.
We have the training, the knowledge and the experiences of training hundreds of dog - of all breeds, anything from a Poodle to a Korean Jindo Dog, for show, competition or home obedience. We fix problems and guide you through your struggles of training.
- In the Basic Obedience program you will also be given the training needed for a CGC (Canine Good Citizen) certificate. All puppies under 1 year of age can qualify for a Star Puppy Certificate after our Basic program. Both the Star Puppy and the CGC Certificates may be applied for from SouthPaw Training. Basic Obedience - Wednesday - September, 15 (Pending 3)6:30 PM - Weekly
Maximum 8 students $150 / 6 wk

Rally is a competitive sport working with obedience, but through motivation. A course is laid out, in a numbered sequence with signs. Each signs is preformed in the numbered sequence and can be accomplished using verbal motivations. Rally classes will be setup to follow the AKC guidelines. Each class will work on learning to read and understanding how to perform each sign. Patterns will be setup to teach the method of working from one sign to another comfortably.
This is a fun sport and students find it very uplifting, for the dogs that find the conventional obedience competitions too controlled. Come check out the fun and join us in Rally. Rally will be combined. We will work the Novice with one course and follow with a course of Advanced and Excellent. You may stay for one course or both.
Our students have progressed faster and with higher scores, because of our ability to work on situations and problem solving. Students usually qualify in 3-4 shows with 3 legs, most scoring in the upper 90's. We have an amazing success rate in our scoring and qualifying with all our students. 6:30 -8:30 Rally Novice, Advance and Excellent - some of the courses for the Advanced/Excellent.

8-Week Focus Program Saturday - October, 2010, 10:30 PM

This Focus Program is an excellent program and has been proven to besuccessful. We have students that have not been able to have a dog work in the ring, until they took this program. I love the motivation and the progress I see in the dog's that take this program. What they start out as, and how they end up is really quite unique. I love seeing a dog change and enjoy having fun.

This program is a structured with a weekly layout, set with a planned format to achieve good focus for ring work. It will be set on a step by step plan, that is easy to follow with great motivation. The motivational tools given will improve your level of desire to please and increase the amount of attention you receive from your dog with distractions. This is a proven method and has shown great changes in all the students that have used this program. Each week is packed with new motivational tools and games that will only increase your dogs activity level and focus. This will drive your dog to work harder and pay closer attention to what you are doing and what your are wanting him to do with you.Give us a call soon. The class starts soon, and gets full quick.
Intermediate/Advanced Training - Weekly ongoingEvery Saturday: - 9:00 A.M-10:15 weekly -

6-week program $125 / 6 wk
Pre-requisite : Completion of Basic Obedience or SouthPaw trainer approval
This class is held every Saturday and may be started at any point, after basic obedience is completed. The Intermediate/Advanced class begins where most obedience classes end. This program teaches you how to work what you have learned in Basic, taking you through and preparing you for situations occurring with Off-Leash training. This is a very productive class for those who want to give their dog Off-Leash training and distraction proofing. This is the most progressive program available, for accomplishing Off-leash training. We have the availability to give you a safe and extensive program with socialization and distraction training for Off-Leash work. We start in the Intermediate level, using a longline to work with distance and control in and indoor/outdoor environment. Progressing in the Advanced level to being Off-Leash, with the dog learning to have control and in the same turn getting some of the freedom that dog's love. If you have taken a Basic Obedience program with another facility and want to take your training further, give us a class and see how much further you can progress. Our students designed and set the price they felt was affordable, allowing them to come to any of our Basic, Intermediate or Advanced class, at any time for a year (from the date paid.)
Competition Obedience:$89.00 - monthly program $80.00 for second
SouthPaw Training has 2 separate levels of competition training.
Novice - Walks you through step by step footwork and body language, along with the format for ring work. We will be working on a complete focus program in this level.
Open - Utility - Working on obstacles, retrieving, patterns, and footwork using focus with distractions. We will work up to and through using the articles and scent detection.
Our Competition Obedience program is structured in a way to assist you in learning the necessary body language and communication with your dog. We work on detailing your workout, to help you get the highest scores possible. Our program teaches the footwork and body language needed, to guide you through your training process and increasing your successes. As with all of our programs, we provide you with written material to assist you throughout the training. During each 6 week session, a mock obedience trial will be held utilizing trial format, scoring and distractions.

Conformation Dog Showing:$90.00 - monthly program
Having shown dogs for more than 20 years, finished champions of my own, handled many different breeds and Judged Junior Showmanship, our program will help gain the knowledge needed to be successful. As with all our programs, this is a structured program with a step by step method. During each 6 week program we set up a mock dog show and format the process.
Behavior solving:By private class only. Rated per level of aggression (Dog must be Evaluated)
Our Behavior Modification program is recommended by many Veterinarians for our problem solving techniques. Our success comes from our knowledge about behavior and teaching canine communication skills. We strive for, "No problem will go unsolved." Aggressive Dog Behavior Modification must be evaluated and is priced individually, according to the type and amount of one-on-one work needed.
